The experience you will live will be linked to the culture and history of some places, in particular, of the town. It starts with the National Archaeological Museum, where inside you can admire one of the most important collections of finds dating back to the period of Magna Graecia and coming not only from Calabria but also from Sicily and Basilicata, with sections dedicated to Prehistory and Protohistory, the colonies of Magna Graecia, numismatics, the Roman and Byzantine period and a section dedicated to underwater archaeology. The most famous finds housed inside are certainly: the "head of the Philosopher", which according to some depicts Pythagoras, but especially the two Bronzes (Bronze A or "the young" and Bronze B or "the old"), in a large room reserved for them and kept at a constant temperature and controlled. The two statues, discovered by a diver in 1972 along the coast of Riace, after a long and painstaking recent restoration, are increasingly a daily destination for many tourists and onlookers.
The second stop of this opportunity to visit Reggio Calabria in half a day with a tour guide is the Cathedral or the Basilica of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Maria Santissima Assunta in Cielo. Few know it, but it is the largest religious building in Calabria, richly decorated, has three bronze portals, the bell tower more than 28 meters high, the interior in Romanesque style with motifs of classical inspiration, nineteenth-century paintings, a marble pulpit, the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, a pipe organ. Near the Cathedral there is also the recent Diocesan Museum, which collects valuable objects and sacred furnishings.
The day ends with a pleasant walk along the Falcomatà city promenade, considered by Gabriele D'Annunzio "the most beautiful kilometer in Italy" and along which it is possible to admire the numerous buildings in Art Nouveau style, the Arena Dello Stretto, the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele III.
